The Wedding of Hayley + Matthew

Not all adventures take place out in the forest and the mountains.

When I used to live and work in Chicago, I had the privilege of becoming friends with Hayley through some nonprofit work I was doing at the time. Her kind spirit and graceful soul are impossible to not want to be around — and the energy just maximizes around Matt.

I told her that I was moving to Seattle around the same time that she told me that she had recently gotten engaged and was considering me for the wedding video. I don’t really do videos anymore, but knowing Hayley and Matt this was one I surely wanted to capture.

My hunch was right.

Enjoy the fruits of countless hours of planning, a long day of shooting and partying, 4200 miles of round-trip travel, [redacted] pots of coffee, and so very much love.

The Inspiration

Hayley and Matt give off “celebrity” in my mind, and so as I was meeting with them, and having phone calls throughout the planning process, I knew this was going to feel like a high-class celebrity wedding and I wanted to bring that to the video. That means paparazzi style footage mixed in with those high fashion almost-perfume-ad feeling moments. It means party, chaos, and the city playing a lead role in the film, just as much as the couple. It means documenting the day, as well as crafting the story of it in a cinematic way. The results make me want to relive their day over and over and over again - what about you?
