This Misty Mountaintop Couple’s Session Will Have You Wanting To Drop Everything & Run Away With Your Love

… but just for the aesthetic, right?

Picture it: Capitol Hill, Seattle. 2022. Seagulls are calling, the air smells of cedar and pine… all is normal, aside of this dense fog that had set in. As I stood in my kitchen sipping my coffee, I wondered how I was going to pull off the vivid landscapes I had planned for L + J when we could hardly even see down the road. But, they are the kind of couple that is all in when it comes to the adventure. We were more set out to have a fun afternoon of shenaniganery rather than a serious “photoshoot” that would wide up on some business-y Instagram account where all the photos look like the same exact brown square. No shade - but we do call this the EVERGREEN state.

We (carefully) head out towards Snoqualmie to a remote little spot in the woods where we found some abandoned tracks.

I want to break from the story here to reiterate that I never condone shooting on train tracks. It is a direct threat to everyone’s lives as you oftentimes have no way to assure that they are not active, and trains sneak up on you faster than you think. That being said, these tracks were overgrown, and quite literally careened into the river, so we were certain that no phantom train was going to show up on the 100 yards of moss grown tracks we were carefully walking across. I’m just good at making things look a little more remote than they actually might be ;)

Let me tell you, nothing gets the heart pumping like trying to walk across very wet, very mossy, VERY abandoned and ruined train tracks high above the forest floor through a dense fog at 10:00 in the morning while looking through your camera and trying to “stay in the moment” for your couple - but I’m that bitch. #MaterialGworl

After we got some stellar shots by the river, we got back in the car and weaved our way through the lush Washington forests to a little lake to get some intimate portraiture. While exploring these moments, Mount Si decided to peak through the clouds, and totally changed our plans. The sun came out (which, if you’re in the PNW you know that really does something to us during the winter months) and L + J got a pep in their step and had carefree fun like careless teenagers! One of them might argue a little too careless (sorry about your pants, L).

The day finished off with some more serious moments shared between the couple, as the sun dipped behind the tree line and threw us the most perfect golden hour I could’ve asked for.

The day was nothing short of magical, and to J + L - it was a complete honor to be your photographer for the day.
